“…Hence, molecular breeding in rice aids to pyramid elite allele of important genes of yield, quality and resistance into elite cultivars (Chen et al ., ; Wang et al ., ; Zhou et al ., ); therefore, assessment of allele performance is the prerequisite and biggest task. Recently, assessment of allele performance mainly depend on QTL analysis with genetic populations such as NILs and CSSLs (Ohsumi et al ., ; Zong et al ., ), which are time and money consuming. In our study, Huanghuazhan was bred after several decades of artificial selection, having conserved amount of valuable genome segments which was called HTBs in the study.…”

“…Exotic genetic libraries are a useful resource for crop improvement ( Zamir, 2001 ). Identification and pyramiding of yield-related QTLs were performed in rice ( Ashikari and Matsuoka, 2006 ; Zong et al, 2012 ) and tomato ( Gur and Zamir, 2004 ). In the current study, we demonstrated a start-to-end pathway that uses an exotic nearly isogenic library to address yield improvement in tomato followed by thorough genetic dissection of epistasis between the three underlying pyramided loci.…”

“…Recently, the characteristics of panicle size have been improved significantly by clustering 8 panicle number and weight-related QTLs via MAS (Zong et al 2012). Meanwhile, the strong restorer line Q611 and the hybrid rice variety Y-You-7 were obtained by transferring two high-yield genes of the Malaysian wild rice Oryza rufipogon , yld1.1 and yld2.1 (Wu et al 2010a), into the elite restorer lines Ce64-7 and 9311 via MAS (Table 1).…”
