One of the major design issues in Wireless ATM and LEO satellite networks is the support of rerouting and handover schemes. The management of mobile terminal handover and rerouting algorithms are the most technical challenges in the recent integrated wireless /LEO satellite networks. Connection rerouting schemes must exhibit low handoff latency, maintain efficient routes and limit disruption continuous media traffic while minimizing reroute update process to the network switches. Fast and seamless handoffs are the two factors in the planning to enhance the Performance Evaluation of the QOS for different mobile services. The objective of this paper is to analyze the different algorithms of connection rerouting and handoff schemes used in wireless ATM networks and LEO satellite networks. The analysis of this case study creates a new vision for design implementation aspects, which improve the delay and QOS performance of the rerouting and handoff methods used in integrated WATM /LEO satellite networks.
