A Quantitative EEG Toolbox for the MNI Neuroinformatics Ecosystem: Normative SPM of EEG Source Spectra

Abstract: The Tomographic Quantitative Electroencephalography (qEEGt) toolbox is integrated with the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) Neuroinformatics Ecosystem as a docker into the Canadian Brain Imaging Research Platform (CBRAIN). qEEGt produces age-corrected normative Statistical Parametric Maps of EEG log source spectra testing compliance to a normative database. This toolbox was developed at the Cuban Neuroscience Center as part of the first wave of the Cuban Human Brain Mapping Project (CHBMP) and has been va… Show more

“…In addition, we suggest our result to help to diverse language processing fields such as acquisition, education for children or foreigners, etc. Furthermore, we will conduct new analysis methods such as Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM) [ 36 ], microstate [ 37 ], a time-frequency investigation, and source modeling based on oscillation [ 38 ] will be used to obtain new results in language processing.…”

“… is the FFT coefficient for the lead κ, at frequency ω , in segment j , N p is the number of time points in each EEG segment, and N seg is the number of segments. The method to calculate is described in detail in [ 61 , 62 ].…”

“…This was performed by calculating the θ/α index in each lead for all subjects of the Cuban normative database [ 55 ] and calculating 2nd-order polynomial age-dependent regressions of those θ/α indices for the normative data to obtain μ(age) and σ. This procedure was the same as described in [ 61 , 62 ].…”

“…This procedure yielded 49 cross-spectral matrices for the 19 electrodes in a frequency range from 0.78 to 19.14 Hz, with frequency bins every 0.39 Hz. For the calculation of the PSD at the EEG sources, the VARETA (Variable Resolution Electromagnetic Tomography) methodology, as implemented in the Neuronic software (Bosch-Bayard et al, 2001) and CBRAIN plugin (Bosch-Bayard et al, 2020) was used. VARETA is a discrete spline EEG inverse solution based on a forward model that incorporates anatomical constraints using the template of ICBM (probabilistic brain atlas) created by the Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) (Evans et al, 1993).…”
