A Questionnaire Survey on Psychological Rating Scale for Evaluation of Building Vibration

Abstract

A questionnaire survey was conducted so as to develop psychological rating scale for the evaluation of habitability to vibration in building. The questionnaire survey was distributed all over Japan using the Internet to investigate the psychological intensity of 23 kinds of Japanese adverbial expressions. More than 800 responses from various age, gender and regional groups to the survey were used to set up 5-step and 7-step category rating scales with semantic labels for the evaluation of building vibration. The scales were shown to provide consistent subjective response when people with various attributes would use this scale.
