Abstract: Recebido em 12/2/98; aceito em 21/8/98 THE CHEMISTRY OF LICHENS. Lichens are symbiotic associations between fungi and algae and/or cyanobacteria. They produce common intracellular products including proteins, amino acids, polyols, carotenoids, polysaccharides and vitamins.
