A Rational Strategy To Construct a Neutral Boron Imidazolate Framework with Encapsulated Small-Size Au–Pd Nanoparticles for Catalysis

Abstract: A series of 3D neutral boron imidazolate frameworks (BIFs) with octahedral metal centers were synthesized based on the charge-balancing principle. Au-Pd nanoparticles (NPs) with a mean size of 2.12 nm were then successfully obtained and encapsulated in these BIF structures through the simultaneous reduction of Au(3+)/Pd(3+) ions by B-H bonds of tridentate boron ligands. The very small sizes of these Au-Pd NPs are attributed to the pore confinement effect of BIFs. This work not only brings new methodology for t… Show more

“…Furthermore, the palladium region peaks for 3d 3/2 and 3d 5/2 illustrated the binding energy centered at 343.3 and 337.8 eV, respectively, which is characteristic of divalent Pd ions, thereby eliminating the possibility of any Pd(0) particles. [83] Similar variation was observed for palladium coordination with bipyridine functionalities of Pd(II) @ (BPyDC) x% -ETTA COFs (x = 25%, 50%, 75%) as shown in Figure S8 (Supporting Information). The confirmation of Pd(II)N linkage in Pd(II) @ 100%-ETTA-BPyDC was established by Raman spectroscopy, as the symmetric Pd(II)N stretching vibration is Raman active over the range from 560 to 430 cm −1 (Figure 2d), as compared to peaks in pristine 100%-ETTA-BPyDC framework.…”

“…In our previous study for Au-Pd@BIF-39-Cd [14], we propose a new method to load noble metal nanoparticles in the tetradentate boron imidazolate frameworks by employing tridentate boron imidazolate ligand, a milder reducing agent than KBH 4 . Here, Ag@BIF-51 was prepared by the same method.…”
