A remote test method for power grid security and stability control system and its engineering application

Abstract: Security and stability control (SSC) system or special protection system (SPS) is an important means to ensure the safe operation of power grid. In view of the insufficiency that the current open-loop testing method cannot fully test the SSC system on-site, a remote real-time closed-loop test method is proposed. “…Literature [5][6][7][8] firstly proposed a simulation platform based on real-time digital simulation system and used real-time simulation modeling technology of large power grids for functional testing of safety and stability control systems to realize closed-loop testing of action reliability and strategy execution effectiveness of safety and stability control devices, but laboratory testing is difficult to effectively guide field testing. On this basis, literature [9][10] proposed a remote testing method based on real-time simulation, which mainly focuses on the verification of the correctness of the stability control strategy, but the method requires hardware and software modification of the safety and stability control device; meanwhile, in order to realize real-time closed-loop control, a supporting signal conversion device needs to be added in the laboratory and a dedicated communication network with high real-time capability needs to be deployed.
