“…Hence, barriers can come from various sources, and their intensity can also differ from region to region. For example, a study conducted on aboriginal people in Taiwan (Luo and Lee 2017) found that the non‐inclusion of locals in decision‐making and a lack of confidence amongst local participants in tourism were major problems in business operations. Another such study by Chiutsi and Saarinen (2017) on the Sengwe community in the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area, Zimbabwe, found that poor resource governance, bureaucracy, and corruption are significant barriers to community engagement in tourism.…”

Few other variables were also derived, included, and designed based on suggestions from tourism informants of the region such as language barrier, lack of proper connectivity, lack of investment in tourism, inadequate telecommunication facilities, etc.…”

“…Local tourism entrepreneurs often face challenges due to changing demand and the skills required in tourism (Nair & Hamzah, 2015). For example, Luo and Lee (2017) found that aboriginal people in Taiwan lack decision-making skills and confidence during various meetings related to tourism. When local communities are involved in tourism development, the process creates other business opportunities in the destinations (Saarinen & Lenao, 2014).…”
