A research on Denial of Service attack in passive RFID system

Abstract: As RFID technology being applied more and more widely, its security and privacy problems are increasingly called into question. Means of RFID attack emerge in endlessly and RFID security becomes a relatively new research area. This paper makes research on one of the attack methods--Denial of Service (DoS). We thoroughly expound and analyze the active jamming to the RFID system which, mentioned as Active Jamming Attack later, is a form of DoS. Through theoretical derivation and simulation, the most effective ac… Show more

“…The IDSJRF detection factor by varying the operating frequencies had values that were consistent with the other tests, so it has the ability to detect DoS of type jamming in RFID systems prior than the communication losses. 8 However, the following limitation/disadvantage should be mentioned: even in the interfering powers in which the losses do not occur, though the jamming attack is real, the IDSJRF had detection levels minor than expected. Therefore, an improvement or extension to this work can be done so that the detection occurs throughout the attack period, even when communication losses are not yet being effective.…”

“…(Fu, Zhang and Wang) describes a study about DoS attacks in RFID systems operating in 915M Hz frequency range [8], in accordance with ISO/IEC 18000-63 [9]. This study explored the generation of electromagnetic interference as a means of jamming attack and examined its effects on RFID systems.…”
