A review of Chiropterological studies and a distributional list of the Bat Fauna of India

Abstract: A historical review of studies on various aspects of the bat fauna of India is presented. Based on published information and study of museum specimens, an upto date checklist of the bat fauna of India including 127 species in 40 genera is being provided. Additionaly, new distribution localities for Indian bat species recorded after Bates and Harrison, 1997 is also provided.
