A Review of Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems: Architectures, Battery Systems, and Optimization Techniques

Abstract: This paper aims to perform a literature review and statistical analysis based on data extracted from 38 articles published between 2018 and 2023 that address hybrid renewable energy systems. The main objective of this review has been to create a bibliographic database that organizes the content of the articles in different categories, such as system architecture, energy storage systems, auxiliary generation components used, and software employed, in addition to showing the algorithms and economic and reliabili… Show more

“…The battery bank has a 288 kWh overall energy capacity. León Gómez et al [61] recently reviewed HRESs and stated that the majority of works concentrate on techno-economic goals. According to the authors, in residential areas, 68 percent of usage-isolated hybrid networks are the most popular design, and nearly a third of all related published papers worldwide come from India.…”

“…However, these systems can be integrated into other renewable energy production systems in a hybrid scheme, thus reducing the dependence on fossil fuels. Investing in this type of energy can create jobs for local populations and promote sustainable development [76], favoring the decarbonization of the economy. The The energy produced by CHP engines, whether in the form of electricity or thermal energy, may seem insufficient.…”

“…It can be a combination of two classical strategies (CMPPT-CMPPT) or a classical with an advanced one (CMPPT-AMPPT) 6 , 9 , or with two advanced methods (AMPPT-AMPPT) 23 . Different controllers are also used in wind turbines to track maximum power 24 40 , including classical strategies such as Perturb and Observe (P&O) 24 , Hill Climbing Search (HCS) 25 , Tip Speed Ratio (TSR) 26 , Optimal Torque Control (OTC) 27 , Power Signal Feedback (PSF) 28 etc. Advanced methods include Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC), Adaptive Fuzzy Logic Control (AFLC) 29 , Genetic Algorithm (GA)) 30 , Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) 31 , Artificial Neural Network (ANN) 32 , Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) 33 , Radial Basis Function Network (RBFM) 34 , Sliding Mode Control (SMC) 35 , Gradient Method (GM) 36 , Ant Colony Optimization (ACO).…”
