A review of mid-frequency vibro-acoustic modelling for high-speed train extruded aluminium panels as well as the most recent developments in hybrid modelling techniques

Abstract: The present paper reviews the vibro-acoustic modelling of extruded aluminium train floor structures including the state-of-the-art of its industrial applications, as well as the most recent developments on mid-frequency modelling techniques in general. With the common purpose to predict mid-frequency vibro-acoustic responses of stiffened panel structures to an acceptable accuracy at a reasonable computational cost, relevant techniques are mainly based on one of the following three types of mid-frequency vibroa… Show more

“…Noise and vibration have been affected human's lives for a long time, especially in a relatively enclosed environment, such as in a carriage [2]. Numerous studies had been carried out to show the contribution and analyze the character and mechanism of interior noise, vibration and coupled dynamics [3][4][5][6][7]. Zhang et al [8] studied influence of the wheel polygonal wear on the interior noise via test and simulation, and provided scientific basis to the wheel re-profiling.…”

“…However, some built-up structures are usually characterized by a complex vibration form in which both long-and shortwavelength deformations occur simultaneously. As a result, both the FEM/BEM and SEA become inapplicable to this midfrequency problem, and alternative methods should be resorted to the study [1].…”

“…29 (3) Hybrid method: This method combines deterministic methods and statistical methods to analyze STL at midfrequency. In Ref., 30 Ji et al summed up all kinds of approaches for predicting mid-frequency vibration in the past twenty years. The first categories of methods are the combination of the FEA method with other nondeterministic methods, and different hybrid methods can be established by using various nondeterministic methods.…”
