Abstract-This article analyzes the existing algorithms used to minimize packet collision in Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs). We illustrate a clear sympathetic of this vigorous research area, by identifying clear guidelines used when packet collision minimization algorithms are designed. We compare strength and weakness of existing solutions and highlight the key research areas for further development. Finally, the paper presents some future perspectives on how the identified shortcomings on exiting solutions can be solved. This paper serves as a guide and a starting point for anyone willing to delve into research on packet collision minimization algorithms in WMNs.
