Abstract: Currently, tacit knowledge has attracted increasing research attention. However, the theoretical foundation of tacit knowledge is still not well formulated, because the researches are very disperse. This work provides a review of the current researches. First, the definition of tacit knowledge is discussed by answering several questions. Next, tacit knowledge sharing, tacit knowledge quantization are identified as two research topics in the current research community. Following that, the technical progress of … Show more

“…The knowledge elements required in technological innovation include not only the existing explicit knowledge of the company, but also the tacit knowledge that must be acquired through communication and negotiation [38]. Due to the characteristics of invisible knowledge itself, it is more difficult to communicate and exchange such knowledge in the form of clear words, symbols or mathematical formulas [39], which will undoubtedly restrict the efficiency of coupling different attribute knowledge elements among firms and the smooth realization of dual innovation. When the social proximity of the collaborating parties is at a high level, technical communication and exchange between them is more frequent, which helps to reduce the difficulty of acquiring key technologies and tacit knowledge and promote the free flow of such knowledge elements between organizations.…”
