“…To effectively alleviate potential safety apprehensions tied to nuclear power, rigorous safety protocols, thorough risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring must be implemented. Concurrently, investment in research and development is crucial to enhance safety technologies, thereby bolstering the safety benefits of nuclear energy compared to other energy alternatives (Xu & Zhang, 2021). Facilitating transparent communication with the public and stakeholders is vital to amplify comprehension and confidence in nuclear power plants' safety measures and risk management.…”

“…In the aftermath of the Fukushima accident and its implications for public acceptance of nuclear energy, the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) of the United States proposed the concept of Diverse and Flexible Coping Strategies (FLEX) and the corresponding FLEX Support Guidelines (FSG) for special accidents caused by external events. Subsequently, the concept of the FLEX strategy was widely accepted and disseminated, (Xu and Zhang, 2021). The project includes a series of studies on the development of FLEX strategies that can be used to respond to beyond-design-basis external events.…”

“…The safety systems of NPPs have undergone extensive development after facing unexpected accidents. For instance, research on human reliability has been actively conducted since the Three Mile Island accident, and countermeasures to the extended loss of alternating current power have been discussed after the Fukushima Daiichi accident [2,3]. According to Korea's operational performance information system for nuclear power plants, unexpected shutdowns of reactors due to human error amount to about 20 percent of all shutdowns, and to cope with human error, some studies have been conducted to support MCR operators in abnormal transients using artificial intelligence (AI) based on improved computing resources [4,5].…”
