This chapter explores ways in which technology could be used to improve the working lives of Women of Color and highlights some of the ways in which Women of Color cannot reap those benefits under current conditions. First, the authors review opportunities and barriers that Women of Color in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields face. Second, this chapter investigates how virtual work loosens and shifts expectations surrounding work and how that affects Women of Color. Third, this chapter examines how the introduction of artificial intelligence to the workplace impacts Women of Color in selection and employee monitoring. Within each section, key avenues of future research and practical implications are discussed. Finally, the chapter ends by considering how researchers can truly elevate the voices of Women of Color as they engage in research that explores how Women of Color interact with technology in the workplace.
