Background and Objectives: In the era of the COVID-19 pandemic, telemedicine, so far underestimated, has gained in value. Currently, telemedicine is not only a telephone or chat consultation, but also the possibility of the remote recording of signals (such as ECG, saturation, and heart rate) or even remote auscultation of the lungs. The objective of this review article is to present a potential role for, and disseminate knowledge of, telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic. Material and Methods: In order to analyze the research material in accordance with PRISMA guidelines, a systematic search of the ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and PubMed databases was conducted. Out of the total number of 363 papers identified, 22 original articles were subjected to analysis. Results: This article presents the possibilities of remote patient registration, which contributes to an improvement in remote diagnostics and diagnoses. Conclusions: Telemedicine is, although not always and not by everyone, an accepted form of providing medical services. It cannot replace direct patient–doctor contact, but it can undoubtedly contribute to accelerating diagnoses and improving their quality at a distance.

Background In recent years, there has been growing interest in the use of Digital Based Nursing Intervention to support diabetes management. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of digital based nursing intervention on knowledge of self-care behaviors and self-efficacy of clients with diabetes. Methods Employing a quasi-experimental design, a sample of 120 adult participants diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, aged more than 18 years with focus on older adults was drawn from outpatient clinics at Cairo University Hospital. The intervention was approved and registered by the ethical committee of the faculty of nursing with IRB number: RHDIRB2019041701. The intervention group (n = 60) received a digital-based nursing intervention, while the control group (n = 60) received standard care. Data were collected using adopted standardized tools including the Diabetes Knowledge Test, the Diabetes Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities. Demographic characteristics were analyzed, and pre- and post-intervention scores were compared using paired t-tests were statistical methods. Results The digital-based nursing intervention resulted in significant enhancements in participants with diabetes knowledge and self-efficacy levels. Moreover, the intervention group demonstrated marked improvements in various self-care behaviors encompassing diet, exercise, medication adherence, blood glucose testing, and foot care. While the control group also exhibited some progress, the effects were less pronounced. Regression analyses highlighted age as a consistent factor associated with knowledge, self-efficacy, and specific self-care behaviors. Conclusion This study underscores the potential of tailored digital nursing interventions to complement traditional care approaches, empowering patients with type 2 diabetes to actively engage in self-management. The findings suggest that digital-based nursing interventions hold promise for enhancing patient knowledge, confidence, and proactive health behaviors. Nevertheless, limitations, including the relatively short intervention duration and a sample from a single clinic, warrant consideration. Future research should address these limitations to bolster the validity and applicability of the study’s conclusions.

36 weeks of Multicomponent Training Reverse Strength Sequels in Mastectomy Arm, Improves Functional Fitness and Quality of Life of Breast Cancer Survivors: A Machine Learning-Assisted Experimental Trial

Purpose: In addition, the study aimed to explore the predictive factors influencing improvements in mastectomy arm's strength over the follow-up time. Methods: It was a single-arm trial, with 8 female breast cancer survivors aged 64 (± 8.6) years old. Results: There were statistically significant results along the three moments for reductions in body mass index (BMI) (-2.55 % change from baseline, p = 0.001, large ES) and in fat mass percentage (FM%) (-10.9% change from baseline, p < 0.001, large ES), increases in upper limb strength (ULS) (105% change, p < 0.001, large ES), in upper limb strength in the arm that underwent surgery intervention (ULSint) (192.8% change from baseline, p < 0.001, large ES), lower limb strength (LLS) (45% change from baseline, p < 0.001, large ES), upper limb flexibility (ULF) (50% change from baseline, p < 0.013, moderate ES, lower limb flexibility (LLF) (102% change from baseline, p < 0.001, large ES), aerobic resistance (AR) (263.5% change from baseline, p < 0.001, large ES), and from second to third moment in dynamic balance (DB) (-20.4% change from 6 months, p = 0.003, large ES). For the QoL, there were improvements along three moments in activities of daily (AD) functionality (50% change from baseline, p = 0.004), emotional function (33% change from baseline, p = 0.01, moderate ES), reduction in pain perception from second to third moment (-66.8% change from baseline, p = 0.002, small ES), and reduction in the perception of fatigue (-75% change from baseline, p = 0.03, large ES), and improvement in global health and QoL (57% change from baseline, p = 0.003, moderate ES). The feature selection analysis identified that AF was the best variable to predict improvements in the mastectomy arm’s strength of the participants (r = 0.60, predicted mastectomy arm’s strength = 18 repetitions, RMSE = 2.53, R2 = 0.74). Conclusion: In summary, 36 weeks of MCT was a powerful intervention to reduce BMI and FM%, improved the FF and the QoL aspects, emotional aspects, perception of fatigue, and the perception of global health and QoL of BC survivors, with good adherence and without prejudicial effects. AF forecasted good values of the participant’s mastectomy arm’s strength over the follow-up.
