A Review on Intelligent Energy Management Systems for Future Electric Vehicle Transportation

Abstract: Over the last few years, Electric Vehicles (EVs) have been gaining interest as a result of their ability to reduce vehicle emissions. Developing an intelligent system to manage EVs charging demands is one of the fundamental aspects of this technology to better adapt for all-purpose transportation utilization. It is necessary for EVs to be connected to the Smart Grid (SG) to communicate with charging stations and other energy resources in order to control charging schedules, while Artificial Intelligent (AI) te… Show more

“…The lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (LNMC) and lithium nickel cobalt aluminum oxide (LNCA) batteries perform satisfactorily in terms of high capacity and extended lifespan; however, there is a scarcity of nickel and cobalt resources. Although lithium manganese oxide (LMO) batteries have a high voltage and adequate sources of manganese exist, they have a constrained capacity and an extended lifespan [132,133]. Lithium titanate (LTO) and lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO 4 ) are two different lithium-ion battery chemistries that were used in [124] to test the precision of the SOC assessment technique.…”

“…On the other hand, it was identified that the infrastructural requirements for enabling IoT-based EV charging stations are not fully developed [21]. Other aspects of the EV charging imbroglio are data security and privacy threats, which were comprehensively analyzed in [22] and for which federated learning and blockchain technology are advanced as two emerging solutions to address these concerns. In [23], an in-depth analysis of EV charging station infrastructure is conducted, in which the optimal charging scheduling techniques are proposed as a viable solution for EV charging infrastructure planning, location, and management.…”
