A Rigorous Analysis and Experimental Researches of Waveguide Magic Tee at W Band

Abstract: Abstract-A waveguide magic tee at W band is analyzed exactly and developed. The analysis approach is a combination of the mode expansion method and finite element method, which is based on the weak form of Helmholtz equation. Mode expansion instead of PML (Perfectly Matched Layers) is used to truncate the computing space of finite element. A magic tee at W band (75∼110 GHz) with the structure, which is easy for manufacture, is developed. Calculated results are presented and compared to those in experiments. Ag… Show more

“…In order to meet the requirement of low loss and high isolation, the branch waveguide power divider has been introduced [1,2]. The reason of using waveguide instead of microstrip line is that the loss caused by the materials and discontinuities in waveguides is less than that in microstrip lines for millimeter-wave propagations [3][4][5]. Unlike the traditional Chebyschev-type branch-line coupler, this branch waveguide power divider has two uniform main guides and different height of the branches.…”

“…Power splitters are used as input and output ports of combining network in the design of power amplifier. Its performance of broadband, high-capacity and low insertion loss directly determines the quality of the whole system [10,11]. Conventional integrated planar transmission line power divider has the advantages of small size and low cost, but it also has the disadvantage of big-loss, poor-isolation and limited-power capacity [6][7][8].…”
