Nanotechnology is an emerging cutting-edge technology, which involves interdisciplinary subjects, such as physics, chemistry, biology, material science and medicine. Different methods for the synthesis of nanoparticles have been discussed here. Although physical and chemical methods have been successfully used to synthesize nanoparticles, the use of hazardous chemicals and synthesis at high temperature is a matter of concern. Hence, there is a necessity to develop eco-friendly techniques for the synthesis of nanoparticles. Biosynthesis of nanoparticles by fungi, bacteria, actinomycetes, lichen and viruses have been reported eco-friendly. Moreover, the fungal system has emerged as an efficient system for nanoparticle synthesis as fungi possess distinctive characters including high wall binding capacity, easy to culture and simpler biomass handling, etc. In this review, we have discussed fungi as an important tool for the fabrication of nanoparticles. In addition, methods and mechanism for synthesis of nanoparticles and its potential applications have also been discussed.

This article reviews recent advances and developments in the field of bioaffinity electrochemical sensors with emphasis on a subclass including immunosensors, aptasensors, genosensors and molecularly imprinted sensosr. Recent insights into novel fabrication methodologies and electrochemical techniques have resulted in the demonstration of biosensors able to detection of wide range of target analyte. It has been shown that due to their high specificity and sensitivity, they represent a great tool in practical applications. Furthermore, at last couple decades nanotechnology has become very popular in the sensor fields due to the high capacity of nanomaterials to immobilize of bioaffinity agents and also their inhibiting effects on denaturation of enzymes and other bioaffinity systems, which they could well have beneficial effects for the performance of these sensors. The main focus of this review is to discuss methods for immobilizing bioreceptors onto a solid support, introduction of nanomaterials for improve sensitivity of biosensor and various electrochemical sensing platforms. The use of biosensor in these applications is most appropriate, because the analysis of trace substances in medical and healthcare applications, environmental science, and food industries is so important. In addition, recent advances in nanomaterial‐mediated bioaffinity sensors used for onset biosensing, point‐of‐care testing and healthcare management are also highlighted.

Rapid and reliable diagnosis of viral infections and tropical diseases and timely initiation of appropriate treatment are essential for their successful clinical management. This Review summarizes some basic concepts regarding the main viral infection and tropical diseases to which society is facing today and the conventional methods available for their detection. The tremendous potential offered by electrochemical affinity biosensors to address this important challenge, meeting the required demands for viral infections and tropical diseases diagnosis, is clearly stated by discussing challenges, opportunities, implementation, and application of selected examples focused on the determination of specific biomarkers of different molecular (genetic, regulatory, and functional) levels. The highlighted approaches demonstrate the use of a plethora of specific receptors and assay formats and a great diversity of attractive electrochemical approaches in this rapidly advancing and highly interesting field.
