“…Previous reviews of studies involving AYA cancer survivors have explored concepts such as unmet needs, 46 social well‐being, 16 as well multiple outcomes reported in 17 papers associated with the AYA HOPE study 20 . Additionally a recent scoping review maps the purpose of 161 different AYA cancer studies 47 . While it is encouraging to see the breadth of topics and domains synthesised in such reviews, the evidence to understand what changes occur over time, and when , remains underdeveloped and unknown.…”

“…20 Additionally a recent scoping review maps the purpose of 161 different AYA cancer studies. 47 While it is encouraging to see the breadth of topics and domains synthesised in such reviews, the evidence to understand what changes occur over time, and when, remains underdeveloped and unknown. Although some studies included in our review identified improvements in outcomes over time, particularly for physical functioning, 32 and anxiety and depression, 33,35 other studies identified little improvement in outcomes over time for a significant proportion of AYA.…”

“…[ 17 , 18 ] Given that AYA cancer survivorship remains a relatively young field of science, there exists limited investigation on risk factors impacting AYA cancer survivors’ SRH. In a recently published scoping review of the AYA cancer literature (between 2015 to 2020), [ 19 ] Telles reported that most research in AYA cancer has focused on understanding the experiences and needs of this population (n = 118, 73.3%), leaving a small portion of studies focusing on interventions to improve AYA cancer survivors’ experiences and needs (n = 30, 26.7%). The four main areas of focus include: 1) health system/treatments, 2) quality of life, 3) sexual health, and 4) social issues, indicating that few studies have focused on AYA cancer survivors’ SRH.…”

“…This population of young patients is habitually de ned by the diagnosis of a tumour in an individual aged 15 to 25 [7], although some international studies extend the upper age to 29 or even 39 [8, 9]. However, AYAs are a particular population whose enrolment in clinical trials remains low relative to the adult and paediatric populations and whose barriers and facilitators to enrolment may differ from those of other age groups [10][11][12]. Moreover, this inadequate integration of AYAs in studies makes the improvement of results regarding survival weaker than those obtained among child and adult populations [13].…”
