A Gianotti‐Crosti ‐like eruption in the setting of SARS‐CoV ‐2 infection

Abstract: and, especially, the distribution of papules were otherwise similar, and both the COVID-19 infection and the absence of a pharmacological origin seem well documented. In conclusion, we report a case of a Gianotti-Crosti-like eruption in the setting of a COVID-19 infection. This is also a good example of the usefulness of teledermatology, a tool that is playing a major role in the pandemic, breaking down barriers to patient assessment derived from confinement and isolation measures. 9 More reports based on morph… Show more

“…No treatment is indicated, but topical steroids were reported to shorten disease duration and relief itch. For the best of our knowledge, only two cases of paediatric GCS were reported after COVID-19 infection (Table 1): Both developed rash after 3-4 weeks of COVID-19 symptoms and one of them had atopic disease like our patient, 2,4 two other cases of GCS was reported in adults, 5,6 and three cases after COVID-19 vaccination. 3,7 Physio-pathogeny remains unclear: Type IV hypersensitivity and IgE-mediated response was evoked: In fact, those patients presented elevated IgE for the most of them and like for our patient and had atopic diseases.…”

“…The 25-year-old female patient presented with a Gianotti-Crosti-like eruption accompanied by a maculopapular exanthema. A one-week course of methylprednisolone cream was administered as a topical corticosteroid, resulting in a progressive resolution of the lesions in 11-18 days [ 15 ]. The availability of standardized treatments for skin lesions associated with COVID-19 infection is crucial for controlling skin diseases.…”

“…Erythema annulare centrifugum (EAC) is a figurate papulo‐erythema following a self‐limiting course, caused by a variety of underlying factors. Skin manifestations associated with COVID‐19 infection considerably vary, 1 and sometimes exhibit clinically ambiguous appearance compared to the original disease image (e.g., erythema multiforme‐like, Gianotti‐Crosti‐like, pernio‐like, and livedo‐like eruptions), 2–5 but COVID‐19‐associated EAC or similar eruption has rarely been reported to date.…”
