“…Although the primary deposits from which azurite is derived commonly contain other base metals such as zinc and lead, secondary minerals of these metals are not typically in intimate association. The extremely widespread occurrence of azurite was emphasized by Pohwat (1991), who compiled a list of 262 worldwide azurite localities in 32 countries that had produced crystals or otherwise interesting specimens. Of these, 134 were represented by one or more specimens in the National Collection of Minerals (Smithsonian Institution).…”
