A self‐organized resource allocation scheme for heterogeneous macro‐femto networks

Abstract: This paper investigates the radio resource management (RRM) issues in a heterogeneous macro-femto network. The objective of femto deployment is to improve coverage, capacity, and experienced quality of service of indoor users. The location and density of user-deployed femtos is not known a-priori. This makes interference management crucial. In particular, with co-channel allocation (to improve resource utilization efficiency), RRM becomes involved because of both cross-layer and co-layer interference. In this … Show more

“…Mehta et al, in [130], develop two solutions in order to address the problem of co-layer interference (interference between neighbors) in a heterogeneous macrocell and femtocell network scenario. The two schemes attempt to mitigate colayer interference while also improving the minimum data rate achieved by femtocell users and ensuring fairness to them.…”

“…green communication technique) when the traffic level is below threshold [84], [47]. When the macro BS is congested, then by mobile traffic offloading to femto cell either by co-operative game theory [46] or by markov`s queuing theory [82] the improvement of EE of the Macro BS and SE of the small BS can be obtained [48], [49][50][51][52][53]. By using Nash equilibrium game theory a trade-off relationship between the SE and EE efficiency can be established [44], [45].…”
