A self-reported long-term follow-up of patients operated with either shortening techniques or a TachoSil grafting procedure

Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyse the long-term results of different surgical techniques for correction of penile deviations in Peyronie's disease. Patients who underwent surgery for a penile deviation in Peyronie's disease between 1997 and 2007 were included into this study. Cases were retrospectively analysed by chart review. The current situation was evaluated by a 16-item standardized questionnaire addressing penile straightness, sensation, length, sexual function and satisfaction. Ninety patients were… Show more

“…Curvature recurrence rates were conveyed between 4-27% in the same studies. [2,9,10,[13][14][15][16] The recurrent cases who underwent SP were predominated by bi-planar curvatures (50%) and recurring side was lateral in general in our series. Therefore instead of suture/ tissue problems, cavernosal anatomy which is weaker at the lateral sides may be blamed for the recurrences.…”

“…The shortening rates observed by Horstmann et al . (93%) (Horstmann et al ., ), together with the fact that the data are very recent, suggest the results should be interpreted with caution. In the case of SIS and pericardium, both of which widely used, the data seem to be quite similar (success rates of 53.8–91% and ED 11–63% compared with success rates of 55.6–100% and ED 0–55.6% for SIS).…”

“…The Nesbit procedure was the original tunical shortening technique and was initially used for the correction of congenital penile curvature caused by corporal disproportion. Modifications of tunical shortening techniques include the Yachia , Giammusso , Lemberger and Essed‐Schröeder techniques, the 16‐ or 24‐dot procedure , the penoscrotal plication procedure and tunica albuginea plication (Table ).…”
