A Sensitive and Green Method for Determination of Catechol Using Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes/Poly(1,5-diaminonaphthalene) Composite Film Modified Glassy Carbon Electrode

Abstract: A sensitive and selective electrochemical sensor for catechol (CC) using a multi-walled carbon nanotubes-poly(1,5diaminonaphthalene) composite modified glassy carbon electrode (MWCNTs/p-DAN/GCE) is reported. The surface features of the modified electrodes were characterized by a scanning electron microscope (SEM), and an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX). The electrochemical behavior was investigated using cyclic voltammetry (CV). The cyclic voltammogram of the modified electrode is characterized by a… Show more

“…Hence the electron count (n) obtained for CC is 1.79 and for HQ it is 2.3 that approximates to 2. The two electron redox mechanisms of these two analytes is supported from literature as well 61 , 62 .…”

“…In contrast, no structural alteration was observed in 1,5 PDAN (Figures S14b and S16). The significantly improved stability of 1,5 PDAN can be attributed to strong π–π interactions between the polymer and the carbon surface and within the polymer–a unique attribute of ladder polymers . Furthermore, the ladder structure of 1,5 PDAN should be less soluble in the electrolyte as opposed to the linear and less conjugated PANI …”

“…The merits of electrochemical sensors created a remarkably increased attention to these techniques, as well as research in this area is growing over the past decades. 32 Even though, there are only two reports about electrochemical sensors for spiramycin. Unfortunately, both electrochemical sensors have limitations that may hinder their use in routine applications.…”
