A Sensitivity Analysis for Thermal Performance of Building Envelope Design Parameters

Abstract: Sensitivity analysis is crucial in building energy assessments. It is used to determine the major variables influencing building thermal performance, using both observational research and energy simulation models. This study investigates the most influential envelope design parameters on the thermal performance of a typical residential building in Budapest, Hungary. Sensitivity analysis is used in conjunction with the IDA-Indoor and Climate Energy (IDA-ICE 4.8) simulation tool to assess the effects of 33 envel… Show more

“…Partial derivative sensitivity coefficient analysis is a method of global sensitivity analysis that controls the influence of other parameters and obtains the correlation between input factors and output results [28,29]. The sensitivity analysis was first proposed by McCuen, to calculate the partial derivative of the ET 0 to each meteorological factor, that is, to calculate the ratio of the relative change of the ET 0 to the relative change of a single meteorological factor [30]. The specific calculation formula is:…”

“…The concentration level of CO 2 is determined mainly by the ventilation rate and the number of people [27]. European Standard EN 13779 for IAQ classification utilizes 1500 parts per million (ppm) as a maximum level of the CO 2 concentration, while it recommends keeping the level below 1000 ppm [28,29].…”
