“…It was significant to observe that unlike the last study in 1979 on canine leptospirosis conducted in the country where the predominant serovars detected serologically and by culture were canicola, icterohaemorrhagiae and hebdomadis (Everard et al, 1979), in the current study of apparently healthy and suspected cases of leptospirosis, no sample was positive for serovar canicola while some dogs were infected by serovar icterohaemorrhagiae. The absence of serovar canicola in canine leptospirosis has also been reported in some countries (Dikenson and Love, 1993;Weekes et al, 1997).
