A Service Integration Platform for Collaborative Networks

Abstract: Integrated manufacturing constitutes a complex system made of heterogeneous information and control subsystems. Those subsystems are not designed to the cooperation. Typically each subsystem automates specific processes, and establishes closed application domains, therefore it is very difficult to integrate it with other subsystems in order to respond to the needed process dynamics. Furthermore, to cope with ever growing marketcompetition and demands, it is necessary for manufacturing/enterprise systems to inc… Show more

“…The proposed platform by Shen et al (2007) addressed the issue of integrated co-production but lacks a solution for co-design and co-production and a standardization method for co-production as well. The design proposed by Osório, Afsarmanesh & Camarinha-Matos (2011) introduces co-production in the cloud computing platform. In addition, in their paper, concurrence in participatory production has been discussed.…”

“…Camarinha-Matos et al (2011) [15] created a matching-maker environment in a cloud where different partners of CN can offer their (non-software) services respecting the technical demands from a given manufacturer. Osorio et al (2011) [16] and their subsequent works have presented an evolving services-based platform to support payment actions by users of tolling systems involving ecosystems of disparate providers. Thanks to open reference specifications, they can plug and play their solutions in the platform.…”

“…More research efforts are directed to the design and implementation of various platforms for collaborative networks, as support tools of the VE development infrastructure or for electronic institutions. For example, an early work reported in [18] introduced Agora, an infrastructure for cooperative work support in multi-agent systems, that was used for VE, while recent works introduce a service-oriented framework for virtual organizations support: a collaborative network in [26], the SOAVE platform in [19], the PaaS framework in [29], and the VirtES, a VE simulator in [8]. Some methodological issues about the development of agent-based VEs are described in [6,17,18,23] etc.…”
