Domperidone (DOM) is a drug used as an antiemetic and to control gastrointestinal effects of dopaminergic drugs in the management of perkinsonism. Two simple, rapid, sensitive and selective extraction free spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the assay of DOM in pure drug, in pharmaceuticals and in spiked human urine sample. The methods are based on the formation of yellow ion-pair complexes between DOM and two sulphonphthalein dyes viz., thymol blue (method A) and bromothymol blue (method B) in acetone and dichloromethane medium. The complexes showed absorption maxima at 390 nm and 410 nm in method A and method B, respectively. Reaction conditions were optimized to obtain the maximum color intensity. The absorbance was found to increase linearly with increase in concentration of DOM, which was corroborated by the calculated correlation values of 0. . The composition of the ion-pairs was found to be 1 : 1 by Job's method and the conditional stability constant (K f ) of the complexes have been calculated. The proposed methods were applied successfully to the determination of DOM in tablets as well as in spiked urine sample with good accuracy and precision.

ParacetamolGuaifenesin Oxomemazine Sodium benzoate a b s t r a c tThe aim of the present work was to develop simple, accurate, sensitive and selective methods for the simultaneous determination of oxomemazine (Ox), sodium benzoate (SB), guaifenesin (Gu), andparacetamol (Par). Two methods were described and validated for the simultaneous determination of the four drugs in syrup and suppositories. The first method was a reversed phase HPLC and UVdetection at 220 nm. The assay was performed using C 18 column and an isocratic elution using acetonitrile e methanol e 35 mM KH2PO4 (20: 5: 75; by volume, pH was adjusted to 2.9 ± 0.1) as the mobile phase. The flow rate was 1.5 mL/ min and separation was achieved in less than 15 min. The second method was a TLCspectrodensitometric method, used to separate, identify and quantify the four drugs when present in combination. The drugs were applied on silica gel plates and development was made using methylene chloride-methanol-acetic acid-33% ammonia (89: 8.4: 2: 0.6, by volume) as a mobile phase. The bands of the four drugs were quantified by scanning spectrodensitometricaly at 270 nm. The suggested chromatographic methods were validated and applied successfully to the analysis of the syrup and suppositories.

Adsorption thin layer chromatography (NP-TLC) with densitometry has been established for the identification and the quantification of acetaminophen in three leading commercial products of pharmaceutical tablets coded as brand: P1 (Product no. 1), P2 (Product no. 2), and P3 (Product no. 3). Applied chromatographic conditions have separated acetaminophen from its related substances, namely, 4-aminophenol and and 4′-chloroacetanilide. UV densitometry was performed in absorbance mode at 248 nm. The presented method was validated by specificity, range, linearity, accuracy, precision, detection limit, quantitative limit, and robustness. The TLC-densitometric method was also compared with a pharmacopeial UV-spectrophotometric method for the assay of acetaminophen, and the results confirmed statistically that the NP-TLC-densitometric method can be used as a substitute method. It could be said that the validated NP-TLC-densitometric method is suitable for the routine analysis of acetaminophen in quantity control laboratories.
