A Simple Filtering-Antenna With Compact Size for Wlan Application

Abstract: Abstract-This paper presents a simple microstrip filtering-antenna with compact size for WLAN application. The T-shape resonator through an inset coupling structure can be treated as the admittance inverter and the equivalent circuit of the filtering-antenna is exactly the same as the bandpass filter prototype. With a little extra circuit area, the proposed filtering-antenna has almost twice wider bandwidth, good skirt selectivity and high suppression in the stopband compared to the conventional microstrip ant… Show more

“…On the other hand, various defected ground structures have been reported in the literature which exhibit very attractive resonant properties and they have been widely used in the fundamental mode microstrip antennas and filters designs to miniaturize their size as well as to improve their efficiency and frequency response at microwave frequencies. In the recent years, several attempts have been made to integrate microstrip antenna and band pass filter by using various techniques . In Ref.…”

“…By using an extra impedance transformation structure between the filter and the antenna, the bandpass filter can be integrated properly with the antenna over the required bandwidth [7]. Recently, a co-design approach has been proposed to incorporate the filter and the antenna [8][9][10]. This integration approach reduces the filter-antenna size and the transmission loss between the filter and the antenna.…”

“…To realize multiple functions within limited circuit size, miniaturization of RF components becomes extremely important. One method for size reduction is to design multiple function devices, which integrate two or more functions into one device [1][2][3]. Using this method, the number of components can be reduced and thus the circuit area can be reduced.…”
