A Simple Polypyrrole/Polyvinylidene Fluoride Membrane with Hydrophobic and Self-Floating Ability for Solar Water Evaporation

Abstract: The traditional hydrophobic solarevaporator is generally obtained through the modification of alkyl or fluoroalkyl on the photothermal membrane. However, the modified groups can easily be oxidized in the long-term use process, resulting in the poor salt resistance and stability of photothermal membrane. In order to solve this problem, a simple polypyrrole/polyvinylidene fluoride membrane, consisting of an intrinsic hydrophobic support (polyvinylidene fluoride) and a photothermal material (polypyrrole), was fab… Show more

“…Finally, Figure 11 shows the FESEM image of PRG-40-32 grout (32% fly ash) [ 40 , 41 , 42 , 43 , 44 ]. It can be noticed that the fly ash does not mix effectively with the polymer binder due to the lack of binder availability to coat the large surface area created using fly ash.…”

“…Then, the Si template underwent hydrophobic treatment with trichloro(1H, 1H, 2H, 2H-perfluoro-octyl)silane to facilitate the subsequent stripping of the PDMS. After that, the mixture of PDMS prepolymer and curing agent was poured on the hydrophobic-treated Si template and cured at 68 °C for 3 h [ 25 , 26 ]. After curing, the PDMS was cooled to room temperature and peeled off to obtain a PDMS substrate with inverted micro-pyramids.…”
