Abstract:Background: Bleeding after a thyroidectomy occurs due to violent cough during the emergence. Dexmedetomidine is helpful for smooth emergence and suppressing the cough. The purpose of the present study was to compare the effect of dexmedetomidine on postoperative bleeding after thyroidectomy.
