“…When maximal concentrations of extractable iron and aluminium in the pedons (often found in the spodic horizons) are used instead of stocks, the results from this study can be compared with other studies. The maximal extractable iron and aluminium concentrations from this study are comparable with very young (B550 yr), but well-developed Podzols in British Columbia (Singleton and Lavkulich 1987) and younger (B2000 yr) Finnish Spodosols. However, the maximal concentrations of extractable iron and aluminium are two to three times higher in the older parts (8300Á11300 yr old) of the same Finnish chronosequence (Mokma et al 2004) and up to five times higher in weathered Swiss Podzols (Egli et al 2004).…”
