A SPARQL Query Transformation Rule Language — Application to Retrieval and Adaptation in Case-Based Reasoning

Abstract: Abstract. This paper presents SQTRL, a language for transformation rules for SPARQL queries, a tool associated with it, and how it can be applied to retrieval and adaptation in case-based reasoning (CBR). Three applications of SQTRL are presented in the domains of cooking and digital humanities. For a CBR system using RDFS for representing cases and domain knowledge, and SPARQL for its query language, case retrieval with SQTRL consists in a minimal modification of the query so that it matches at least a source… Show more

“…Gravsearch has been developed as part of Knora (Knowledge Organization, Representation, and Annotation), an application developed by the Data and Service Center for the Humanities (DaSCH) [22] to ensure the long-term availability and reusability of research data in the humanities. 3 The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) requires researchers to have a plan for making their research data publicly accessible, 4 and the DaSCH was created to provide the necessary infrastructure to meet this requirement.…”

“…This issue can be addressed by using sparql query transformations. An engine has already been designed to manage transformation rules and has proven useful in different contexts including the search in the Henri Poincaré correspondence corpus and the case-based cooking system Taaable [6]. Rules are configurated by the user and can be general or context-dependent.…”

“…For resources with the same minimal cost, the count related to the execution of the query associated to this cost is used (in a decreasing order). For the running example, this gives, for the first 5 suggestions from number 1 to number 5: eugénieLaunois, alineBoutroux, göstaMittagLeffler, henriPoincaré 6 and felixKlein. The remainder of the suggestions is composed of all the resources of the database ranked using the alphabetical order.…”
