“…Lanthanide transition metal-oxo (3d–4f) clusters have garnered significant attention from scientists due to their luminescent, electrical, magnetic, and catalytic properties arising from the synergistic effects between 3d and 4f metal ions. Various clusters with diverse and aesthetically pleasing structures have been reported, including crown-shaped, double-propeller-like, dish-shaped, and cage-like configurations . In 2023, we reported on the successful assembly of the racemic rare earth-oxo clusters {Nd 9 Fe 2 } ([Nd 9 Fe 2 (μ 4 -O)(μ 3 -OH) 14 (acac) 16 (NO 3 )(CH 3 OH) 2 (H 2 O) 3 ], Hacac = acetylacetone) with achiral rigid ligands by a transition metal doping strategy .…”

“…Lanthanide-transition metal complexes composed of 3d–4f elements have attracted widespread attention in various fields due to their unique physical and chemical properties, as well as their potential applications in optics, 6,7 catalysis, 8,9 magnetism 10,11 and chirality. 12 For example, chiral complexes, chiral metal clusters 13,14 and chiral metal–organic wheels, 15 have been successfully synthesized using achiral ligands (carboxylic acids, alcohols, ketones).…”

“…By trying a series of auxiliary ligands having a similar coordinate mode with glycine and 3d metal ions, it is successful to assemble pyrazine-2-carboxylate (Pzc), azide, and Ln III and Co II ions in MeOH solvothermal conditions. As the results show, two-dimensional metal azides [LnCo 9 (Pzc) 6 -(OH) 3 (N 3 ) 11 •2(CH 3 OH)•2H 2 O] n (Ln = Gd for 1 and Dy for 2) have been developed in which the nitrogen−oxygen heteroatom ligands play important roles in assembling 3d−4f complexes 38. In 1 and 2, the nonacoordinate D 3h Ln III ion is encapsulated in a Co 6 cage, which is further linked by Co 3 (N 3 ) 11 units in forming a 2D layer.…”
