The purpose of this project was to examine the effects of individual and collective training requirements across the readiness cycle on retention of U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) soldiers, including indirect effects on family members and employers, and to identify mitigating steps that the Army Reserve could take to improve retention while maintaining an operational reserve.This research was conducted within RAND Arroyo Center's Personnel, Training, and Health Program.
