A Statistical Approach for Knowledge Discovery: Bootstrapped Analysis of Language Models for Knowledge base Population from Unstructured Text

Abstract: Abstract. This paper proposes a novel approach to knowledge discovery from textual data. The generated knowledge base can be used as one of the main components in the cognitive process of question answering systems. The proposed model automatically extracts relations between named entities in Persian. Our proposed model is a bootstrapping approach based on n-gram (a contiguous sequence of n items from a given sequence of text or speech) model to nd the representative textual patterns of relations as n-grams in… Show more

“…These models are trained on large datasets of annotated texts to identify patterns corresponding to different types of knowledge. Statistical approaches can be effective in extracting knowledge from large volumes of unstructured data, but they can be limited by the quality of the training data (Momtazi and Moradiannasab, 2019).…”

“…It extracts lexical and ontological knowledge from Persian raw text and uses logical, template-driven, and semantic analysis methods. Momtazi and Moradiannasab [50] also proposed a statistical n-gram method which extracts knowledge from unstructured Persian language texts.…”

“…While there are many approaches to knowledge discovery [10,11,12,13] in the context of control mechanism, especially in the realization of a rather straightforward control mechanism like the observer/controller pattern, expert knowledge must be employed in order to specify which data the observer collects and realize the decisions the controller makes. This results in introducing additional cost for modeling the system by the experts.…”
