Abstract: BACKGROUND Chronic liver disease is a liver disorder of varying causes and severity with variable clinical, biochemical and histological findings with severity lasting for 6 months or more. The spectrum of chronic inflammatory diseases of the liver extends from acute hepatitis to chronic hepatitis and finally to cirrhosis.
