“…It has been found to reduce resistance (Bashour, Geumei, Nagrawi & Downey, 1973) and reduce the constrictor effects of noradrenaline, angiotensin and vasopressin (Richardson & Withrington, 1975) in the dog hepatic vasculature possibly by increasing extracellular potassium concentration (Hulstaert, Beijer, Brouwer, Teunissen & Charbon, 1974). Recent findings suggest a similar action in the rat mesenteric arteries but no such effect even at high concentrations was seen in the rat hindlimb vessels (Mishra, Sharma & Kishore, 1975). Hyperglucagonaemia may, therefore, contribute to the decreased noradrenaline pressor responses seen in the fed diabetic groups and account for the contrast between these results and those of the perfused rat hindquarter preparation.…”
