A study of interaction surface acoustic wave with localized surface plasmon resonance

Abstract: A surface acoustic wave (SAW) has the ability to manipulate droplets, and a localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) is expected to be utilized for biosensors. By integrating both of them on a single substrate, it is possible to create a new microfluidic system. In order to achieve this goal, the interaction the SAW with the LSPR was investigated by fabricating the substrate and measuring. As a result, it was found that the reflectance characteristics of the LSPR decreased and the spectrum shift in the short… Show more

“…In air the surface of cleavage degrades by oxygen for dimension of the order of 10 nm [15] (Fig.2). So, this surface layer determines the resistance of Ag/BSCCO microcontact: it is known [19,20] that in point contact geometry of current spreading, heterocontact resistance is determined by volume of the order of d 3 from the side of both contacting electrodes (d is contact diameter). The resistance of each electrode can be calculated from the ratio:…”

“…[7][8][9] Therefore, realizing a health monitoring system using a wireless passive surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensor is paramount. 10) Because SAW devices do not require a bias supply and can be operated by an optimum radio frequency signal, [11][12][13] wireless and passive sensors are suitable in this case. Therefore, the wireless passive SAW sensor has the advantage of obtaining quantitative information perpetually even when unattended.…”
