A Study of Quality Factors for Cotton Fabrics in Ink-Jet Printing

Abstract: This research focuses on the effects of paste pre-treatment, concentration of sodium alginate, steaming conditions for colour yield and outline sharpness of ink-jet printing. The results show that (a) coating is a better method than padding for paste pre-treatment of cotton fabrics; (b) 102°C × 12min is the best condition for steaming; (c) pattern sharpness is better when the concentration of sodium alginate increases; and (d) color yield diminishes when the concentration exceeds 20g/L. In other words, when th… Show more

“…In addition, digital technology is also evolving that allows fashion industries run its business process efficiently and accurately for fabric printing. 45 The global business environment requires corporations to use a variety of information and communications technologies in order to coordinate and control all activities in its global operations, the competitive advantage can be achieved if the organization is able to either develop an overall cost leadership or differentiate itself from competition through technology. 46 Many organizations recognize that collaborative technologies reduce barriers to communication and facilitate knowledge sharing.…”

“…The contact angle of water on sodium alginate pretreated fabric was almost 1.8 times of untreated fabric. This phenomena can be due to the capillary continuity in the fabric was broken by the sodium alginate film (Figure S1), which reduced the wicking rate of water droplets on the fabric (the capillary effect was 5.7 ± 0.2 cm) and enlarged the contact angle (60.62°) …”
