“…There are several works on VHO for wireless mobile communication scenario considering QoS but no remarkable work in vehicular communication. A VHO architecture for the combination of optical and RF WLANs is projected in Sakurai et al by means of tunneling method. Most of the VHO work mainly measures bit error rate (BER) based on the received signal strength (RSS), signal‐to‐interference ratio (SIR) at the receiver .…”

“…Hence, the trend is the cooperation among different technologies working in different frequency bands, such as common Radio Frequency (RF) services and Optical Wireless Communications (OWC), which has demonstrated that provides high speed wireless transmission in indoor environments [1]. Although there are already studies and proposals in this field of interest [2], the coexistence between RF and OWC is still an open research area [3], [4], but it is not the focus of this paper. Moreover, although consumer optical communications are mostly guided [5], the number of wireless applications for it is growing in recent years [6], [7], mainly for the following advantages that make OWC an appropriate candidate to complement RF communications:…”

“…Fundamental analysis for visible‐light communication system using LED lights are discussed in . Numerous studies also have discussed the VLC and the RF systems to be used as complementary technology to each other . The main goal of those studies is to investigate and exploit the heterogeneous nature of such technologies and find the benefit from being used in combination.…”

“…The main goal of those studies is to investigate and exploit the heterogeneous nature of such technologies and find the benefit from being used in combination. In , authors develop a seamless communication method between radio and optical [WiFi‐ infrared (IR)] communication systems where the hybrid WiFi‐IR communication system continues to use RF transmission when the communication path of the optical wireless transmission is obstructed and switches back to optical wireless transmission as soon as the optical wireless connection has become stable again. The purpose of using this hybrid radio‐optical architecture is to use high‐speed and secure communication via optical communication whenever it is available.…”
