A study of students’ learning perceptions and behaviors in remote STEM programming education

Abstract: In recent years, STEM education has developed students’ fundamental subject knowledge, and has allowed students to integrate STEM cross-domain knowledge. Universities emphasize innovative thinking, practice and application, problem-solving, and teamwork to nurture students while learning STEM cross-domain knowledge development in remote STEM program education. When students take online STEM programs, they may encounter unanswered questions and may give up on trying to solve them. Therefore, this study proposed… Show more

“…STEM education also stresses the importance of evaluation, wherein students must gather, assess, and apply relevant information to solve various problems (Leung, 2020). This ability is essential across engineering, coding, and mathematical logic (Su et al, 2022). Creativity in STEM education is indispensable, fostering the ability to innovate and generate new solutions (Gao et al, 2020; Nguyen et al, 2020).…”

“…The ultimate aim is to reduce the dropout rate among female computer science students (Silva et al, 2021). Su et al (2022) introduced a problem-based learning approach integrated with an online programming system in a STEM programming course. Simplified assignments and teacher guidance facilitated programming task solutions, while problem-based learning enhanced students' understanding, planning, execution, reflection, and debugging.…”
