“…Therefore, the generalized model of rock-bit interaction dynamic was used in the model of the system in order to design three controllers: classic PID controller [11], sliding mode controller [12], and hybrid sliding PID controller [13], they were designed to mitigate the stick-slip vibrations. The main advantages of the latter controller is its ability to eliminate the chattering phenomenon, the controllers' performances were principally evaluated based on their response time because the dynamic of the vibrations is very fast in comparison to manual human intervention in the industrial rotary drilling systems [14].
