[3][4][5][6][7][8] In neonates majority of gastrointestinal (GI) obstruction are due to congenital lesions such as anorectal malformations, Hirschsprung's disease, GI atresia, malrotation; however, in infants and children, GI obstruction is due to a variety of congenital (e.g., Hirschsprung's disease, malrotation) as well as acquired causes such as intussusception, post-operative adhesive obstruction, Koch's abdomen, worm obstruction etc. 2,4,5 In our series, which included patients between 1 month and 12 years of age, GI obstruction was most commonly due to intussusception (18%), Hirschsprung's disease (14%), malrotation (12%), Koch's abdomen (11%), Meckel's diverticulum (10%) and post-operative adhesive obstruction (9.5%).…”
