A study on the high-speed forming press using electromagnetic force

Abstract: In this article, a high-speed forming press using electromagnetic pulse force is designed with the finite element analysis. The punch of the press is fixed to an aluminum plate driven by electromagnetic pulse force. The force is the repulsive force between the aluminum plate and the coil. The coil is supplied with a high-voltage AC current impulse from the capacitor, and then the magnetized aluminum plate moves upward at high speed to perform the pressing. For the analysis of the pressing, the coupled analysis… Show more

“…According to equation (4), this article proposes a simple reduced order load observer as equation (5) dx dt = Ax + Bu + k(y Àŷ) y = Cx ð5Þ wherex = ½v mT L T is the estimated state variable and k = ½ k 1 k 2 T is the state feedback gain matrix. According to equations (4) and (5), we can get…”

“…It is then difficult to regulate the speed of this kind of drive system and the processing adaptability of the press machine is poor. [1][2][3] Choi et al [4][5][6][7][8][9][10] analyzed its dynamics, noise, stamping performance, and other aspects from the mechanical structure point of view and pointed out that by changing to variable speed drive, the system can achieve high efficiency, high precision, and high flexibility. For example, Dulger et al 11,12 used variable frequency induction motor and mechanical flywheel as the drive train.…”
