A Study on the Oxidation-extraction Desulfurization of FCC Gasoline Over Supported Phosphotungstic Acid/H2O2/Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO)

Abstract: The oxidative desulfurization of FCC gasoline was investigated using HPWA/HY, HP WA/SBA-15, and HPWA/HY-SBA-15 as catalysts, individually. Micro-mesopore structured HPWA/HY-SBA-15 with 20% of phosphotungstic acid exhibited the optimal catalytical performance and the sulfur content of FCC gasoline dropped to 18 μg/g after adsorption under optimal conditions: HY content of 40% in composite zeolite and reaction temperature of 40 • C for 90 min.

“…The reason why 8NMP/2BEN/0.06H 2 O has the lowest desulfurization rate for MO-4 is that MO-4 contains olefin, aromatics, cycloalkanes and cycloolefin, and other substances, resulting in competition between 8NMP/2BEN/0.06H 2 O and thiophene sulfide in the process of extractive desulfurization. Some 8NMP/2BEN/0.06H 2 O interact with other substances, thus affecting the liquid–liquid mass transfer efficiency between 8NMP/2BEN/0.06H 2 O and thiophene sulfide and ultimately resulting in the low desulfurization rate of 8NMP/2BEN/0.06H 2 O for MO-4. It can be seen from the liquid phase spectrum for detecting sulfur content in MO-4 that the peak area of toluene is reduced by about 4000 mAu·s, indicating that 8NMP/2BEN/0.06H 2 O also has a certain ability to remove aromatics, which leads to a decrease in the desulfurization rate of 8NMP/2BEN/0.06H 2 O.…”

“…Since the last fifteen years, several articles reported the preparation of heterogeneous catalysts based on the simple wet impregnation of variable amounts of phosphotungstic acid over mesoporous SBA-15 or mixed HY-SBA-15 composite zeolite [194], with the aim to study their catalytic activity in the ODS process applied either to model fuels [195] or real feeds [196] with H 2 O 2 , TBHP o air [197] as main oxidants. In general, these catalytic systems showed high activity and stability, being possible to reuse the heterogeneous catalysts after the regeneration step.…”
