A study on the pathological lesions of oviducts of buffaloes diagnosed at postmortem

Abstract: The aims of this study were to study the prevalence of oviduct abnormalities of buffaloes, investigate bacteria accompanying hydrosalpinx, pyosalpinx and salpingitis. In addition, the study was designed to investigate the correlation between bacterial infection of the uterus and oviduct lesions in buffaloes. Bacteriological examinations were performed on hydrosalpinx, pyosalpinx and salpingitis. Hydrosalpinx was found in 28 (6.9%) cases of which 20 (71.4%) were found unilaterally and 8 (28.6%) bilaterally. Pyo… Show more

“…Common ascending inflammatory conditions reported in cows are vulvovaginitis 15 , cervicitis 16 , endometritis 17 , salpingitis 18 and perioophoritis 19 . Salpingitis 20 and endometritis 21 have been reported as the most common bovine genital inflammatory disorder. They are characterized by increased vascularization and secretion as well as marked infiltration of the tubal and/or endometrial tissue with neutrophils and plasma cells 22,23 .…”

“…In this comparative genomics study of T. pyogenes strains from all over the world, we have also included the first Indian draft genome sequence of T. pyogenes species (Bu5 strain), which was isolated from wound infections of water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis). Notably, infections due to T. pyogenes in water buffalo have been reported from Mediterranean and Middle East countries [16][17][18]. In India, cases of T. pyogenes infection have been reported from small ruminants [19]; however, reports from buffaloes in India have been elusive.…”
