“…For example, average salaries earned by interns tended to decrease over the last decade. Although this trend may be due to more students accepting internships without stipend, the mean salary of $7,049 found in this sample is comparable to the $6,235 figure found in a 1976 sample of 95 APA-approved sites (Matthews, Matthews, Maxwell, 1976). This finding lends credence to Landsbaum's (1970) contention that interns select sites for their quality rather than for financial or geographical reasons.…”

“…The purpose of this article is to provide an exploratory assessment of the types of legal/forensic experiences that are currently available in internship programs approved by the American Psychological Association (APA). This information should be particularly useful to prospective interns, since Matthews, Matthews;and Maxwell (1976) have noted that the lack of relevant information concerning internships prevents application by some students to sites they would otherwise have sought. Further, the assembling of a comprehensive listing of legal/forensic-oriented internship sites hopefully will facilitate communication among such sites concerning common problems, approaches, issues, and goals, while at the same time fostering increased training in this area both at these sites and others.…”
